Abstract :
Waste pickers are very important for the management system of MSW in a city, which is a part of urban management. A good management system of MSW can produce an effective urban management in a city. This paper is a case study of waste pickers and urban management in Beijing, analyzing the characteristics, the impacts and the importance of waste pickers for a city on the base of field investigation and some inquiry surveys in the Daxing District, Chaoyang District, Fengtai District, etc in Beijing. Based on that, the paper puts forward several countermeasures for a city to deal with the relationship between waste pickers and city so as to make the urban management more effective and promote the city develop steadily and sustainably.
