Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a simple and accurate model for computing the reflection phase of various EBG surfaces. This model is based on simulating scattering parameter of a single port waveguide with ideal PEC and PMC walls which is terminated to a unit cell of the EBG structure. It is shown that this model is applicable to both two and three-layer EBG surfaces. The results obtained by this model are in good agreement with the measurements. Several mushroom-like EBG surfaces are analyzed by this model and their reflection phase characteristics are compared with each other.
