Abstract
In microwave remote sensing, the brightness temperature is an important parameter. In order to model more realistic and real natural rough surfaces such as soil and ocean surface, we use exponential, power-law and modified spectral densities to model rough surfaces, which are all named as non-Gaussian surfaces. Then, we obtain the simulations of the scattering coefficient and the brightness temperature from them, which are compared with that from Gaussian rough surface. The results show that: the modified power-law spectrum gives various spectra and with various rms height and correlation length, which are physical parameters usually used to describe real natural rough surfaces.
