Abstract
A new IR (infrared) image pre-processing approach based on image fusion is presented in this paper. Through analyzing the noises types of IR image, this paper produces an alpha-trimmed mean filter for suppressing mixed noises and rapid Sobel edge detector for enhancing the target´s edge. Then it uses simple weight average method to fuse the treated IR image. Simulation shows that this method is applicable for real-time IR images enhancement and beneficial to target recognition.
