Abstract
A circuit approach is presented to the decomposition of responses of higher order circuit modes in a converter operation into basic resonant circuits of the second order, each operating at its natural frequency, and first order circuits, if any exist. A two-dimensional state-plane trajectory is used to represent the steady-state response of each basic resonant circuit. The complete steady-state response of the converter is obtained from a combination of these state-plane diagrams. This technique makes it possible to obtain a geometrical representation for the steady-state response of a high-order converter
