  • Abstract
With the further development of GPS and rising of new positioning system, the ground coverage rate has become a hot research object. As a mature software, STK can solve aerospace problem rapidly and accurately. The paper innovatively uses STK software to measure the coverage rate of GPS. After giving the previous result, the paper propounds a further discussion of coverage rate: the level of accuracy and concludes that GPS should ensure different levels of accuracy in different regions in order to obtain the maximum benefit. Based on the conclusion, the paper qualitatively gives different requirement of accuracy in different regions from military and commercial perspective and points out that these problems are highly related to the design of satellite orbit parameters, which provides some practical advice for the design of new positioning system.
