Abstract :
A variational expression in the form of an integral involving the propagation constant and the field along the two media interface in a shielded micros trip transmission line is derived. Using the Rayleigh-Ritz method along with the original expression, the relative magnitudes of the electric field transverse component to the axial component is obtained. Further, the technique allows a fast and accurate solution of the structure dispersion characteristics.
