Abstract :
A moment method and a GTD method have been developed to calculate the E-and H-plane radiation patterns of rectangular microstrip patch antennas on rectangular ground planes. Both methods are essentially 2-dimensional. Calculated patterns are compared with measurements. The agreement is good in the E-plane and fair in the H-plane. The discrepancies in the H-plane are due to diffraction components not taken care of by a 2-dimensional model.
