Abstract :
In an automated manual transmission (AMT), high performance gearshift system is desired to achieve short shift time, high efficiency and shift quality. This paper presents a new designed AMT gearshift system which employs an electromagnetic actuator especially. The coupling system model of the actuator is established from three points of view: electric circuit, electromagnetic field and mechanism. A prototype of the electromagnetic actuator was developed and static characteristics were validated by experiments. The results show that the electromagnetic actuator is suitable to be used in an AMT gearshift system. An AMT test bench including electric circuit, sensors, hardware and software was developed and gearshift experiments were carried out. The results show that the new designed AMT gearshift system is competitive.
