Abstract :
A bandwidth-efficient digital radio, carrying 45 Mb/s in 10 MHz bandwidth, has been developed using 81-state QPR (quadrature partial response) modulation. The receiver threshold at BER 10-6 is about -72 dBm and the unfaded background error rate is typically better than 10-12. This performance, which maintained simplicity of implementation, was possible by exploiting the simple correlation built into the partial response signal. The author outlines the key aspect of the development. The radio is in volume production
