Abstract :
The quality factor Q and transmission T of a 2D PC microcavity consisted of square array of 13times17 Al2O3 rods with single defect have been calculated theoretically as 3times105 and 88% respectively. The localized field modulation has been applied to this structure to investigate the variation trends of the quality factor Q and transmission T. When Lx=9, Ly=11 and the surrounding Al2O3 rods were moved towards the defect center for 0.1a, the transmission T and the quality factor Q are achieved at 70% and 8042, respectively. Compared with the result of the cavity without modulation, T would be increased markedly and Q would be kept almost unchanged at the same time.
