  • Abstract
An algorithm for mapping multidimensional digital signal processing system onto array structures is described. Two concepts, hypermatrix and multilinear form, have been evolved in order to achieve this algorithm. This algorithm is designed to achieve a general decomposition of a real rational transfer function, and maps it onto array structures. The importance of such an algorithm is that current approaches for decomposition problem are either special cases or approximations to the general decomposition problem are either special cases or approximations to the general decomposition problem. That is because the decomposition of one-dimensional transfer functions cannot be extended to higher dimensions. However, the new algorithm can decompose multidimensional transfer functions into lower dimensions or even one-dimensional transfer functions
