Abstract
The purpose of this work is to characterise a coaxial launcher to microstrip transition over a broadband width [2.0 ¿ 12.4 GHz]. There are several different types of S.M.A. coaxial to micros trip launchers commercially available, the one chosen for this investigation was the wedge shaped launcher 244-4A manufactured by `Omni-Spectra´. There is good evidence to support the view that a significant phase change occurs at this transition. In this work a lumped model for the transition is given and is shown to be valid over a frequency range of at least [2.0 ¿ 12.4 GHz].
