Abstract
In this paper, the limitations of existing computer aided process planning (CAPP) systems with two-tier (customer/service) architecture are first analyzed, considering the features that a CAPP system requires increasingly such as the supporting remote process planning, collaborative design and numeric sharing, etc. A web-based CAPP system with three-tier architecture is presented. Some key technologies in the implementing process are then studied, and its working process is discussed.
