Abstract :
A cost estimating model in the product design phase based on CAD/CAPP integration is proposed. The model includes CAD feature recognition and extraction, product feature modeling and process planning. A process planning based cost estimation system (PPBCES) based on the model is developed. The main modules include: feature recognition of CAD, feature modeling, product process planning and cost estimation. The estimation process is restricted by the real resource of enterprise, so estimation results are real, credible and exact, and the results can be fed back to the designer in time. The model is validated by a case run of the PPBCE system.
