Summary form only given.We present the results of a series of experiments on stimulated Raman amplification of a probe beam in a sized Ba(NO/sub 3/)/sub 2/ powder in the presence of a pump beam. A frequency-doubled, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser was used as the pump beam.
