Abstract :
Distributed long-living technical systems with a high availability and reliability often need to be designed for low- as well as high-communication load scenarios. In an industrial cooperation with the rail signaling industry, one such system with about 500 communicating components experienced problems when communication increased. We identified the problem in the communication between different architectural software layers on the embedded components. This paper presents an architecture, which addresses this problem by integrating active and dedicated components into the software.
