Title :
Skills for power system software engineering: a vendor´s perspective
Author :
Kumar, Jayant ; Widergren, Steve
Abstract :
The power industry has a great demand for talent that combines computer science skills with engineering knowledge. Power application software engineers require strong power background in conjunction with the knowledge of economics and finance. Power engineering fundamentals for software engineers include power system operation. Steady state analysis, power system optimization and power system security analysis. Financial modeling techniques including physical, swap and option transactions should be well understood by power engineers.
