Abstract :
This paper presents the design of a whispering gallery mode dielectric resonator and the design of a Ku band dielectric resonator oscillator using a commercial packaged HEMT as an active device. A novel feedback method is employed in the structural design of the DRO. A lumped element circuit model is used to represent coupling between cylindrical DR and a microstripline. As an illustrative example, the design of a 17.5 GHz DRO is discussed. The oscillator realised with this technique exhibits excellent phase noise performance, good power output and high temperature stability
