Abstract :
The reduction of phase noise of multiplier type microwave sources by means of an automatic phase control loop is described. The loop comprises a frequency discriminator, a loop amplifier, and a phase modlator. Theoretical performance limits are derived for single frequency sources as well as for canb generators. Experinental results are given for several kinds of X-band sources.
