After careful and considered review of the content and authorship of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this paper has been found to be in violation of IEEE\´s Publication Principles.

This paper contains significant portions of original text from the papers cited below. The original text was copied with insufficient attribution (including appropriate references to the original author(s) and/or paper title) and without permission. The lead author, Anjali Malviya, accepted responsibility for the violation, and the coauthor, S.G. Bhirud, claimed to be unaware of the paper and did not consent to be included as an author. The paper was retracted from Xplore by the request of the coauthor.

Due to the nature of this violation, reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper, and future references should be made to the following articles:

Image registration is one of the most important tasks when integrating and analyzing information from various sources. It is a key stage in image fusion, change detection, super resolution imaging, and in building image information systems, among others. Image registration is the process of overlaying images (two or more) of the same scene taken at different times, from different viewpoints, and/or by different sensors. The registr- tion geometrically aligns the reference and sensed images. The major registration purpose is to remove or suppress geometric distortions between referenced and sensed images. Image registration is a crucial step in all image analysis tasks in which final information is gained by combining various data resources. It is required in remote sensing, image fusion, environmental monitoring, medicine, military applications etc. In this paper we have proposed a wavelet based image registration technique that uses mutual information for registering images.
