Conventional Cable insulation test for the traditional experimental methods of measuring efficiency is low, the error is large, by the impact of the shortcomings of human factors is proposed based on image processing of the cable insulation thickness measurement research techniques, combined with the classic edge detection algorithm and improved algorithm for automatic contour extraction of cable insulation and true to its edge detail, through this two-cycle-by-pixel comparison algorithm to automatically obtain the minimum thickness of the cable insulation and size. And experimental results show that the system is reliable, high precision, can easily solve the cable insulation thickness measurements.
