Abstract
Knockout switch performance deteriorates when subjected to a nonuniform traffic pattern. A reconfigurable hardware structure which exploits the system´s redundant fault tolerant switch performance under hot spot traffic conditions is proposed. The authors define the hardware structure and functions of the new blocks, which must be integrated in the knockout switch to implement the proposed solution
