Abstract :
A computer simulated QAM and VSB concept (ATSC-Standard) for a 7 MHz transmission channel are described and the performances are compared. Each considered concept consists of an individual carrier recovery, timing recovery and phase tracking loop. A periodically inserted training sequence implemented in the transmitter of each realized concept is used to calculate the coefficients of an adaptive equalizer in the receiver. The multipath propagation channel is modeled according to the COST 207 channel models
