Abstract
The authors describe the implementation of a multiprotocol internetwork, called the Boeing Internet. This approach establishes a three-level strategy for interconnecting local area networks (LANs). These three levels are the LAN/extended LAN, campus networks, and the Boeing Internet. It also establishes a framework for managing, administering, and operating the Boeing global network. The Boeing Internet is based on routing over wide geographic distances, and routing and bridging in confined campus areas. Issues discussed in relation to the Boeing Internet are architecture, management strategy, administration strategy, and accounting strategy
