Abstract :
In this paper, we present a traffic information service platform to alleviate difficulties of current urban traffic systems. For problems including difficulty of parking, traffic congestion and passengers missing taxies may be caused by lacking of real time information; the platform can provide useful information based on devices such as vehicle passing sensors, mobile communication modems and smart phones. The platform can gather, transmit, analysis and publish information about location, speed, available cab service, available parking room and requirement of vehicles, parking lots, taxies, and passengers. Acting as universal terminals, smart phones play a key role in gathering transmitting and displaying information. This paper presents the design, implementation and test of the prototype of the platform, and test results show its easily deployable, low cost characteristics.
