Abstract :
The steady increase in the use of electronics, converters and a wide range of nonlinear loads in industrial facilities has led to higher harmonic levels at the source side. Stator harmonic currents whose frequencies may coincide with turbine-generator shaft system natural frequencies can develop shaft torsional vibrations that can damage the generator. This effect is investigated in this paper.
