Abstract :
Lightning strokes cause mainly outages of transmission lines. Lightning study covers all risks and questions referring to influence of lightning phenomenon on power transmission lines. The lightning performance of multi-circuit transmission tower with HVAC and HVDC circuits was investigated. Till today lightning analysis of HVDC and HVAC systems were done separately. Since both systems will be installed on the same tower, lightning performance of multi-circuit tower that has been converted into hybrid line have become very challenging. Lightning incidence and range of outages for four configurations of hybrid line have been estimated using various lightning attachment models and simulations in EMTP-ATP.
