Abstract :
We analyze the static and dynamic sensitivity functions of the closed-loop system transfer function to the variations of both input and output sampling time. Based on the sensitivity functions, we present a simple dynamic sampling deadtime compensator for a distributed field control system. This compensator can effectively reduce the impact of sampling time variation on the system performance in terms of setpoint variation frequently occurring in the downstream loop of a cascade control system. Our compensator can be easily implemented in any field device control system.
