Abstract :
This paper introduces a distributed electronic monitoring system for the machine which is drilling the Sample of Deep-sea Core in deep ocean. The system composes of two components: monitoring and control computer on deck and underwater measurement and control system. Monitoring and control computer monitors and controls the underwater devices how to operator. Underwater measurement and control system executes command from host computer, collects data from various sensors and controls the drilling machine. Underwater control system connects to the host computer with thousands of meters optical Fiber. This system is mainly divided into six parts: underwater embedded hardware design, CPLD based IO expansion module, a reliable transmit protocol based on RS232, underwater embedded software design, deck control system and the whole system debug. The system is the first kind of Deep-sea drill system based on thousands of meters sheathed cable in China, and has been successfully used in South China Sea exploration mission.
