Abstract
This paper presents a novel probabilistic reliability assessment method, considering outages of both substation and transmission facilities. Reliability indices such as failure frequency and duration, load curtailment index (LCI) and expected unserved energy (EUE) are calculated. Reliability worth analysis is also performed. Analytical approach and model development are described using results from a reliability study performed for the Pretoria Metropolitan subtransmission system.
