Abstract :
A power flow controller based on rotary phase-shifting transformers offers an attractive alternative approach to conventional phase-shifting transformers or power-electronic devices. Chubu Electric Power Company (CEPCO) foresees a need for a smooth, fast, and repetitive control of power flow along CEPCO´s parallel transmission paths. This paper describes the design characteristics and dynamic performance of a simulator model of a rotary power flow controller that was installed at the CEPCO´s hybrid simulator, power system analyzer in Nagoya, Japan.
