Abstract :
Classical transverse resonance is not applicable to non-separable geometries with open boundaries. Discretising by enclosure within ideal metallic walls alters essentially the boundary conditions for radiation. A new and rigorous technique called transverse resonance diffraction is introduced here on the example of image waveguide. The case of two coupled guides is also discussed.
