Abstract :
Summary form only given. Single bus based distributed embedded systems are used in several real time control applications such as automobiles, aircraft, industrial automation, off-road vehicles etc. The single bus based multiplexing network allows information sharing among various intelligent modules inside a microcontroller based multimaster system. In order to achieve an optimum functionality, the information should be exchanged among various electronic modules in real time. Data reduction techniques are used to send the data over a transmission media at high speed. Data reduction techniques can be employed in multiplexing networks to improve information exchange rates among various intelligent modules. Controller area network (CAN) is a serial communication protocol, which efficiently supports distributed real-time control with high level of security. We introduce a data reduction algorithm for CAN protocol based real time multiplexing networks. The proposed algorithm can be generally applied to all data classes found in distributed embedded multiplexing networks.
