Abstract
Based on UFO (universal foundation ontology), OntoUML is a conceptual modeling language which is built with a lightweight expansion of UML metamodel (layer 3). The composition of UFO ontology and OntoUML modeling primitives were given in this paper, and through an example of conceptual model, it was shown how to use OntoUML modeling primitives to express concepts and relations between concepts correctly. Besides, a number of model rules were discussed. The results showed that the conceptual model based on the language is characterized by lucidity, soundness, laconicity and completeness.
