Abstract
The time-division multiple access (TDMA) digital cellular system provides new services, lower system cost and spectrum economy. The authors describe functional evaluation results in the seven-base-station network in the Tokyo metropolitan area, such as call connection/quality and handoff with MAHO (mobile assisted handoff). The higher quality of the G3 fax transmission and MNP modem transmission in the digital cellular network compared to the quality in conventional analog cellular networks is confirmed
