Abstract :
Antenna arrays are becoming increasingly important as wireless systems are moving to higher frequencies and implementation in CMOS. Advanced CMOS wireless systems leverage the vast computation resources available in the technology, and so simple digital phase shifters are preferred. This introduces significant quantization errors in the antenna pattern. Also, the constraint for equal paths from the phase shifters to the antenna elements is relaxed, introducing further errors. Both of these error sources are mitigated allowing the problem to finally be cast as a convex optimization problem over a discrete-valued domain.
