Abstract :
A measurement system for the characterization of UHF propagation within buildings has been developed. The system can perform simultaneous signal level measurements on two propagation channels. Cross-polarized dipole antennas are studied, and results show that the signal levels have Rayleigh and Ricean distributions. Selection diversity combining of individual signals from the cross-polarized receiving antennas shows significant improvement in signal levels over the case where a single-dipole antenna is used. Additional results from hallway profiles show deterministic path profiles that deviate from generally accepted statistical assumptions concerning multipath propagation
