Abstract :
Summary form only given. A database management system is an essential component of data warehousing and knowledge discovery. We utilize graph structures and information theory methods in order to: (i) simplify database modeling, (ii) implement enhanced online data retrieval functions, and (iii) achieve faster data transmission in e-commerce applications. In particular, we apply information measures to the process of querying online databases, and use multiple-valued decision diagrams as a tool to represent interactive database systems in order to optimize the time needed to respond to online queries of Internet customers.
