Abstract :
A theoretical model fitted to Schottky diode mixers design in the 0.5-3 THz range is developed. It allows the determination of the various contributions to the conversion loss and noise of a whole mixer system. It includes antenna mismatch to the incident radiations, impedance mismatch between the antenna and Schottky junction at the various involved frequencies, the intrinsic conversion process and parasitics. A typical application in the case of a simple open structure with quasi-optical coupling is commented.
