Abstract
Previously, a modular ASIC architecture to optimally implement a full-aperture and a full-frame rate ultrasonic synthetic aperture imaging (SAI) system has been proposed. However, on a case with a number of receive channel count is less than a number of array transducer´s element, this architecture cannot be efficiently used and a lot of resources within the chip are wasted. This paper will address this issue and propose an efficient SAI beamforming ASIC architecture so that full-aperture and full-frame rate system can be optimally constructed and a low-cost system with small channel count can also be efficiently constructed.
