Abstract :
The core elements of Web GIS are spatial information processing and spatial data. It means that the flexibility of the Web GIS system depends on the cross-platform processing and the capability to analyze the heterogeneous data. Even though Web services are employed to add Web GIS the capabilities of cross-platform processing, the heterogeneous data still can not be well analyzed. The spatial analysis service in the spatial information grid (SIG) platform developed on the Web services and grid technology base is an effective way to improve flexibility of Web GIS in aspects of both processing and data. With this principle, the paper introduces the method to separated spatial information processing and spatial data of Web GIS, designed spatial analysis service node (SASN) and vector data service node (VDSN) in SIG to contain the two elements, and provided a workable implementation to make the two nodes communicate. Finally, we conduct some experiments on using heterogeneous data in spatial analysis services, and prove it to be available for geo-computation and the flexibility of Web GIS is improved a lot.
