Abstract :
The use of electronic mail and other forms of computer mediated communication among faculty in engineering and technology is discussed. Through the interviews and case studies, the authors examine characteristics of faculty who are active users of comptuer mediated communication (CMC), as well as those who do not use the communication technology. Possible barriers to a more widespread use of this medium for instruction and professional development are examined, and remedies are suggested
