Abstract :
This paper describes a novel method to improve output voltage quality of grid-connected Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel (CHBM) converter with Phase-Shifted PWM (PSPWM) and serial bus communication. For practical design of CHBM converter, serial bus communication enables to control power-cells of flexible number. Although a frequency of updating reference voltage is limited by serial bus communication speed, the output voltage quality of cascaded power-cells can be improved by proposed method. It provides low distortion of current for grid-connected CHBM converter. The validity of proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results.
