Abstract :
An environmental flow is a description of the components of a river´s natural flow regime to ensure that the key chemical, geomorphological and ecological processes necessary for healthy river ecosystem functioning are maintained. This concept has been applied to hydrological rehabilitation of the health of rivers impacted by large flow regulating structures such as dams and weirs. This paper firstly introduces environmental flows under the bulk entitlement process, meanwhile point out its questionable values to select environmental flows. Finally the Scientific Panel method is used in environmental flow allocation in Goulbourn-Broken river, Australia.
