Power equipment of the gigantic Three Gorges Project

The Three Gorges Project includes the following subjects: the dam, flood-relief buildings, hydropower plant, navigation buildings etc. The dam is reinforced concrete and 185 meters high. Fourteen units will be installed in the powerhouse on the left bank and twelve units will be installed in the powerhouse on the right bank. The hydrogenerators will have a generating capacity of 700 MW each, and the total installed capacity of the project will reach 18200 MW, with an average annual output of 84.7 billion kWh. The first batch of hydropower units will begin operation in 2003, and there will be four units installed every year
