Abstract
In this paper, Medium Voltage DC (MVDC) distribution system is proposed for wind power applications. The proposed MVDC system is favorable for off shore wind farms. The architecture of the system, control for the medium voltage three phase inverter, active and reactive power control for voltage and frequency support are discussed in the paper. The proposed topology allows for easier integration of energy storage with wind energy. The simulation results show the viability of the proposed system for active/reactive power controls for wind farms.
