Abstract :
In a designated verifier proxy signature scheme, the original signer delegates his signing capability to a designated person, called proxy signer. The proxy signer generates a valid signature, called proxy signature on behalf of the original signer. The designated verifier checks the correctness of the signature and convinces the original signer´s agreement on the signed message. In this paper, we proposed an ID-based short designated verifier proxy signature (ID-SDVPS) scheme using elliptic curve cryptosystem (ECC) and bilinear pairings. Compared with other existing schemes, which were implemented with the public key infrastructure (PKI) based cryptosystem, the proposed scheme is more secure, efficient and satisfies all the security requirements of short designated verifier proxy signatures. The proposed scheme is also efficient in the terms of communication overheads and computational cost. Since the signature length is short and ECC provides lower computation costs and thus the proposed scheme is especially suitable for the environments with limited bandwidth, computing power and storage space.
