Abstract
The variation of the input impedance of microstrip antennas on PTFE and GaAs substrates with substrate size is presented. This is of particular relevance to the design of monolithic active sub-arrays. The results show significant changes of resonant frequency and resistance with substrate size. The effect on the impedance can be neglected for substrates greater than ¿/4 in width.
