Abstract :
A new type of distributed reflector (DR) laser consisting of width modulated wirelike active regions was realized for the first time. Threshold current as low as 1.8 mA, an asymmetric output property of 8:1, and a sub-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) of 33 dB at 1.2 times the threshold were obtained.
